Support for local initiatives
The work of civil society actors in the region of the former Yugoslavia is fundamental to the processes of transitional justice and increasing awareness about the crimes committed during the 1990s conflicts. The MIP supports local initiatives mainly through the provision of guidance, advice, expertise, and public information materials that are ready to be used in transitional justice projects.
A set of Online Training Tools is accessible online and provides information and guidance on the content, access, and effective use of the ICTY’s and the Mechanism’s judicial archives. These tools have been designed to enhance the ability of local actors to inform the public about events that took place during the region’s violent past.
