Today, the Mechanism Information Programme for Affected Communities (MIP) organised an online workshop for students and faculty members of the University of Sarajevo’s Law Faculty, as well as alumni of the MIP Inter-University Video Lecture Programme participating in the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) Moot Court. This marks the second generation of ICC Moot Court participants benefiting from MIP-led workshops, building on the success of previous sessions.

Today’s workshop was led by Ms. Evangelia Sarikaki, a Legal Officer in the Office of the President at the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (Mechanism). She provided guidance on written memorials and legal writing skills, using examples from the ICTY and Mechanism jurisprudence to help students prepare strong written submissions for the upcoming ICC Moot Court Competition.

Since 2019, the Inter-University Video Lecture Programme has brought together over 600 postgraduate students from 14 law faculties and one faculty of political science across the former Yugoslavia. The programme not only enhances students’ knowledge of the 1990s conflicts and judicially established facts but also fosters dialogue among students in the region.

The Inter-University Video Lecture Programme is part of the wider MIP, which is funded by the European Union.

The aim of the MIP is to improve the knowledge and understanding of citizens and communities in the countries of the former Yugoslavia about the crimes committed during the conflicts of the 1990s, based on the jurisprudence of the ICTY and Mechanism.
