ICTY and MICT Prosecutor Serge Brammertz will be in Sarajevo on 15 and 16 May 2017, as part of preparations for his regular biannual reports to the UN Security Council (UNSC).

The Prosecutor will meet with Acting Chief Prosecutor Gordana Tadić, and will join Prosecutor Tadić in meeting with representatives of victims’ organizations to discuss war crimes justice in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Prosecutor will also meet with TRIAL International to discuss compensation for victims of war crimes. Finally, the Prosecutor will brief members of the diplomatic community.

President Meron meets with delegation of the American Bar Association

The President of the Mechanism for International Criminal Tribunals (MICT or Mechanism), Judge Theodor Meron, on Tuesday, 25 April 2017, met with a delegation of the American Bar Association (ABA) at the Mechanism’s Hague branch. The delegation, comprising over 75 judges, lawyers and other legal professionals, visited the MICT as part of a programme, organized by the Judicial Division of the ABA, focused on international law and international legal institutions in The Hague.

Mechanism welcomes students from Tumaini University Makumira

The Mechanism for International Criminal Tribunals (MICT or Mechanism), on Thursday, 13 April 2017, received a delegation of 70 students from the Faculty of Law of Arusha-based Tumaini University Makumira at the premises of the Mechanism’s Arusha branch. The students, at varying stages of their law degrees, are also members of the University’s Law Society.

As people around the world pause today to remember and commemorate the 23rd anniversary of the Rwandan Genocide, the Office of the Prosecutor (OTP) of the Mechanism for International Criminal Tribunals (MICT) expresses its sorrow and sympathy for the victims, survivors and the Rwandan people.

The event took place at the head office of the (EAC) in Arusha.

The Mechanism for International Criminal Tribunals (MICT or Mechanism) on Wednesday, 29 March 2017, received a high-level delegation from South Africa, including members of Parliament and representatives of organizations with a special interest in justice issues, at the Mechanism’s Hague branch. The visit was part of a broader programme organized by the Friedrich Naumann Foundation to discuss the role and challenges of the International Criminal Court.

The Mechanism for International Criminal Tribunals (MICT or Mechanism) received delegates from the Kenya National Cohesion and Integration Commission (Commission) at the premises of the Mechanism’s Arusha branch on Wednesday, 22 March 2017. The delegation of the Commission, a statutory body established in Kenya in 2008 in response to the post-election violence in Kenya between 2007 and 2008, was headed by Commissioner Hon. Morris Dzoro.
