MIP participates in the Summer School ‘Wars of the 1990s”

On 14 June 2024, the Mechanism Information Programme for Affected Communities (MIP) participated in the Summer School entitled “Wars of the 1990s”. The Summer School was held over five days in Divčibare, Serbia, and gathered 20 historians and social scientists. The school is organised by the Association of Citizens for Democracy and Civil Education, Civic Initiatives, and is part of a wider project supported by the United Nations Development Programme.

Mechanism Archives and Records Section holds online training for legal practitioners and researchers from Rwanda

On 13 June 2024, the Archives and Records Section of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (MARS/IRMCT) delivered an interactive online training session for approximately 20 legal practitioners from the Certa Foundation from Rwanda. The session focused on navigating and accessing the extensive archives of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) and the IRMCT using the Unified Court Records Database (UCR).

Prosecutor Serge Brammertz addresses the United Nations Security Council

Serge Brammertz, Prosecutor of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (Mechanism), today addressed the United Nations Security Council about the work of the Office of the Prosecutor (OTP).

Prosecutor Brammertz began by informing the Council that the OTP has concluded its important mandate to account for all fugitives indicted by the ICTR.

President Gatti Santana presents the Mechanism’s progress of work to the United Nations Security Council

The President of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (Mechanism), Judge Graciela Gatti Santana, today presented the Mechanism’s twenty-fourth progress report, as well as its fifth review report, to the United Nations Security Council (Council) in New York.

Exhibition „Dubrovnik siege through the ICTY’s judgements” opens in Podgorica

On 30 May 2024, the representatives of the Mechanism Information Programme for Affected Communities (MIP) and the Office of the Prosecutor (OTP) of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (Mechanism) spoke at the opening ceremony of the exhibition titled "Dubrovnik Siege through the ICTY’s Judgements," held in Podgorica, Montenegro.

MIP and OTP hold workshops in Montenegro

From 28 to 29 May 2024, the Mechanism Information Programme for Affected Communities (MIP) together with a representative from the Office of the Prosecutor (OTP), held two lectures and workshops for 30 young journalists, civil society activists, members of political parties, defence lawyers, prosecutors, and judges from Montenegro. The two-day event took place in Podgorica and Petrovac, Montenegro, and was organised by the Youth Initiative for Human Rights Montenegro, with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
