Internships in Chambers

Chambers is the judicial organ of the Mechanism. It is composed of a full-time President and 24 other independent Judges who are called from the roster of Judges, as needed, to perform the judicial work of the Mechanism. The Chambers Legal Support Section provides legal support to the Mechanism's Judges in all aspects of their judicial activity.
Internship Description
As an intern supporting Chambers, you will participate fully in day-to-day judicial activity by working and interacting with Judges, legal officers, and other Mechanism staff. Such duties include:
- Conducting comprehensive legal research;
- Analysing relevant law, rules and policies;
- Preparing memoranda;
- Assisting in the drafting of documents such as decisions and orders; and/or
- Assisting Judges during hearings.
In addition, interns are invited to attend lectures and other activities that have particular relevance to the work of the Mechanism.
What we look for
To be a successful internship candidate in the Chambers Legal Support Section, you should have:
- Strong academic credentials;
- Demonstrated research, analytical and drafting skills; and
- An interest in the areas of:
- Criminal law;
- Public international law;
- International criminal law;
- International humanitarian law; or
- Human rights law.
English and French are the working languages of the Mechanism. Fluency in oral and written English is required. Fluency in oral and written French is an advantage. Check each vacancy notice for specific language requirements.
